There’s some ho in this house. I’m Joe. I’m from Bulgaria and I’m gon na be rumbling about Bulgarian Christmas traditions and getting I’m actually delighted about it. Hi. I’m and I’ll be sharing vacation traditions from China. Hi I’m and today I will be sharing vacation customs from northern Italy. We’re Orthodox Christians in Bulgaria. We just celebrate Christmas normally uh we do more preparations for Christmas Eve, which is on the twenty-fourth and we do more cooking more prep for the Christmas supper. Um we have some type of celebrations on the twenty-first of December to create a new year where we normally just make all the specific brand-new dishes. it is called the winter solstice. And normally called festival in China. It’s just 1 day, usually on the twenty-second of December. It’s the day where there’s the longest night of the entire year here in northern Italy, We commemorate Christmas, which we call Natalia and normally the festivities would go from December 8, which is the feast of the spotless conception up until January 6, which is the epiphany. Christmas is a really big celebration here in Italy and up till Christmas Day, There will be a great deal of things going on around town. For instance, you may see a. Live representation of the Nativity or Christmas markets, or many other things, and then some households might choose to commemorate Christmas both on 24th at supper time and on the twenty-fifth at lunch time. however usually here in the North, we have one huge meal at lunch time on the twenty-fifth. We don’t truly have any complex decorations. It’s simply the most basic thing, but um in contrast with other nations, I seem like we do it quite late. Um we don’t really have Christmas decorations up until December. I’ve constantly found it quite strange when individuals begin embellishing from November onwards although to be very type of this year. Um you know the point is on the tropic of Capricorn throughout this festival, we don’t really do. All by each other presents cuz it’s not a big celebration as the spring celebration for Chinese individuals here in northern Italy. Yes, we do embellish um we normally install a big Christmas tree with great deals of smaller decorations and something that we’re actually huge on too is that um we still set up the representation of the Nativity personally in my family. We have an actually good one with like moving parts and whatever. Yeah, we enjoy the. Rays We do purchase gifts absolutely nothing too traditional, though we simply dealt with like another holiday presents belong of our holiday celebrations due to the fact that you truly wan na reveal the people you enjoy that you care about them. so you typically purchase them something nice like a candle or pajama or whatever else want to buy them. If you are going to bring them food. If you go to another person’s house to commemorate, you may typically want to bring either a Pandora or a which are our traditional Christmas. Cakes So this is a Pandora, which is this like a normal plain cake, which is like actually soft and it tastes remarkable. And then this is a panic and I can not open it because my household is going to kill me if I eat it without them um but yeah, you’re generally either group or team Pandora. I’m personally in Pandora just because it’s the best. Christmas supper I can talk so much about the Christmas supper cuz it’s legitimate my preferred part of Christmas and probably Bulgarian celebrations. We have a Christmas fast which ends on the 25th and we have our huge Christmas Eve dinner on the twenty-fourth and since the past has not ended um that indicates having a shit load of vegan dishes on the table, which I get extremely thrilled about cuz I’m the only vegan in my family generally winds up with me. Being eliminated and not being able to breathe um I enjoy it anyhow. So usually they require to be either 7 9 or twelve and these are all numbers, which is believed to be wonderful um, according to Bulgarian customs. If you put some sort of special foods such as garlic, honey um on the table, um they’re set to have special powers like garlic for examples and far from your home we have um. Bread that we bake um and we put a little coin inside of that bread. Whoever gets the coin gets to have a little appearance in the list below year. We constantly leave a part of that bread or the house and we leave a part of that bread for the uh I think that’s everything about the Christmas Eve supper for the New Year’s supper. We have is my favorite conventional Bulgarian meal. I kinda describe it to my buddies as Bulgarian lasagna. my Italian buddies are gon na get. Um it’s not really that, but it’s simply easy to describe and we put sort of dreams and that and whoever gets um a desire. um it is sets that um they’re gon na have this desire come true in the year ahead. Um it’s truly funny cuz we take the piss. Um I got a baby 1 year and my family kept on teasing me for being single. That was rather enjoyable. We do have a special supper and what we consume throughout the. We don’t have one standard meal for Christmas here in Italy due to the fact that all the regions have like their different histories and you want it personally in my family. we like to consume tort, which is tortellini in like a meat broth, which is truly excellent and this would resemble our main dish. However then we would likewise have possibly like another meal 2nd course, with like just meat, which come which would originate from like our broth and then the dessert. And it’s just you eat essentially for 6 hours straight up until you take off and then for dessert our conventional dessert as I pointed out previously is or which I can’t wait to consume this year. We simply have Santa, we call them the which actually translates to grandpa Christmas. There’s no figures that represent the vacation, but it’s viewed as the approaching of the coldest day in winter who brings children presents in Italy. Well, it is Natalia, which is our variation of Santa Claus or Baby Jesus on the sixth of January on the surprise. We also get an additional dosage of gifts which are brought by which is a wish that goes around trying to find child Jesus. And while she’s doing that, she also brings a lot of like. Gifts and sugary foods for children. um if you’re an excellent kid, you will get sweets. If you’re a bad kid, you will get charcoal. Oh, there’s there’s a really cool thing that takes place on the twenty-fourth generally um it happens in smaller sized locations um where this is more possible. It’s not actually that popular anymore, which is type of a shame cuz I actually like things like that. But um we have a lot of men um typically around my age, maybe more youthful that walk around your homes and sing Bulgarian folk music. To bless your home for Christmas for Christ’s birth, I truly like that. it’s always very wonderful to listen to Bulgarian and um as a sign of thank you for them. blessing your home you um provide some sort of a part of your Christmas food. I do not know if that makes sense, however you can provide um maybe some sort of sugary foods or you can provide some type of part of your Christmas bread or whatever um and then some regions in northern Italy will likewise have other traditional. Activities like if you go closer to the mountains, you will have a torch light parade on skis and numerous other enjoyable things. Um yeah. Christmas is a really enjoyable time to be in around Italy. I like Christmas just like 3 days after this celebration is approaching so Merry Christmas and want you have a good vacation and whoever is not going home. I hope you understand that you’re not alone and reach out. There’s constantly somebody who’s got your back. There’s always someone who’s gon na care. um it can be very lonesome to be alone on Christmas in a dreadful year to stay strong. Okay. Pleased Holidays, Merry Christmas and I hope everyone enjoys and delighted Christmas from LS TV.
